As an innovative form of self-adhesive label, although it has the advantages of low carbon environmental protection and high cost effectiveness, there are also some disadvantages. The following are the main disadvantages of bottomless paper labels:

1. High production equipment requirements

High requirements for coating equipment: The production of bottomless paper labels requires high requirements for coating equipment of silicone oil and glue. It is difficult for ordinary label manufacturers to effectively use silicone oils and adhesives, which limits the popularity and production efficiency of paperless labels.

The labeling system is complex: the labeling system of the non-backing paper label is more complex than the traditional self-adhesive label. This requires enterprises to carry out corresponding upgrading or transformation of labeling equipment when introducing bottomless paper labels, which increases the initial investment cost.

2. The label shape is limited

Shape limitations: At present, the more mature bottomless paper labels on the market have more restrictions on the shape, generally rectangular. However, the shape needs of self-adhesive labels on the market are diverse, and rectangles cannot meet all market needs, which limits the application scope of bottomless paper labels to a certain extent.

3. The automatic labeling machine needs to be redesigned

Separate label position design: The automatic labeling machine using the paperless label needs to be redesigned at the separate label position. If the width of the tear line is not properly designed, there may be problems that the tear line is not easy to break or the obvious burr edge is formed after the tear line is broken, which affects the normal operation of the labeling line and the beauty of the product packaging.

4. High material requirements

High quality thermal paper requirements: Non-backing paper labels usually require the use of high quality thermal paper, silicone and adhesives. The cost of these materials is relatively high, increasing the production cost of paperless labels.

Material characteristics requirements: The thermal paper must be able to make the adhesive well fixed on the reverse side, and must be impermeable to prevent the adhesive from penetrating the paper layer to affect the printing effect. In addition, the surface must ensure that the silicone is well fixed to avoid the silicone being absorbed into the paper and affecting the separation effect.

5. The appearance of the outer packaging may be affected

Tear line Burr problem: Since bottomless paper labels rely on tear lines for separation, use may leave visible burrs on the edge of the label. This affects the beauty of the outer packaging of goods to a certain extent, limiting the application of bottomless paper labels in industries with high appearance quality requirements (such as the daily chemical industry).

In summary, there are certain shortcomings in the production equipment, label shape, automatic labeling machine design, material requirements and the appearance of the product packaging. However, with the advancement and innovation of technology, these problems are expected to be gradually solved, and the application range of bottomless paper labels will be further expanded.
